Il Corriere dello Sport is reporting that Benfica are considering a move for Napoli midfielder Walter Gargano.
The 29-year-old has returned to Stadio San Paolo after his loan spell with Inter came to an end, but he doesn’t seem to be considered an important member of the side by new boss Rafael Benitez.
As a result, the Uruguay international could be sold to make way for new signings, with Benfica reportedly keen on his services.
The Eagles have signed quite a few talented footballers this summer, but they are also looking to add some experience, especially if star midfielder Nemanja Matic leaves.
Gargano has spent last six years in Italy, having joined Napoli from Danubio, making 193 Serie A appearances and scoring 4 goals.
However, seeing as how he is no longer considered an indispensable member of the squad at San Paolo, a change of scenery could be on the cards.
