Benfica keen on Matavz

Benfica are showing interest in PSV Eindhoven striker Tim Matavz, Record has revealed on Sunday.

Given that Oscar Cardozo is nearing a switch to Fenerbahce, the Eagles are looking to sign a new striker this summer and they have set their sights on the Slovenia international.

Benfica officials are set to open talks with their PSV Eindhoven counterparts in the next few days, but the good news is the Dutch side are prepared to cash in on the talented forward.

Matavz hasn’t quite managed to fulfill his potential at Philips Stadium since making a €7 million move from Groningen and he is likely to be sold this summer.

Benfica chiefs, nonetheless, believe the player would be a good addition to the squad at Estadio da Luz, although it is important to note Lazio are also showing interest in the striker.

Tim Matavz, 24, has scored a total of 22 goals in 55 Eredivisie appearances for PSV, while netting 12 times in 16 Europa League fixtures.
