Benfica are pondering a move for PSV Eindhoven striker Tim Matavz, according to De Telegraaf.
With Javier Saviola nearing the exit door, the Portuguese giants are exploring the possibility of signing another striker before the end of the transfer window.
The Eagles had shown interest in Luuk de Jong, but were forced to turn their attention to other targets after former Twente star completed a switch to Borussia Moenchengladbach.
Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf now reports that Benfica are stepping up their interest in PSV Eindhoven striker Tim Matavz.
The Slovenian international joined the Eredivisie giants last summer, arriving in a €7 million deal from Groningen, but he has so far failed to fulfill his promise at Philips Stadium.
Matavz started the season as a back-up player and his situation at the club is unlikely to change any time soon.
It is for that reason that PSV Eindhoven might be willing to negotiate his sale to Benfica this summer.
