The UEFA Under-21 European Championship has been a fine opportunity for clubs around the continent to take a closer look at some of the brightest talents and set their sights on potential future stars.
Known for their impeccable scouting network, Portuguese giants Benfica have identified Slovakia U21 starlet Martin Chrien as one of the top prospects who’s been tipped for a great career.
The Eagles tracked the 21-year-old Victoria Plzen midfielder throughout the Under-21 European Championship and moved on to open negotiations over a potential summer move to the Estadio da Luz.
Chrien scored two goals in 3 matches for Slovakia in Poland.
He spent last season on loan with Slovak side Ruzomberok, where he made 17 Super Liga appearances and scored five goals.
Portuguese media outlet Ojogo reports that Martin Chrien has already arrived in Lisbon where he will wrap up negotiations with Benfica and go through his medicals before signing a deal with the Portuguese champions.
