Portuguese giants Benfica have informed interested clubs it will take €30 million to sign star midfielder Javi Garcia.
The 25-year-old has been linked with a number of high-profile sides during the past season and he is now widely tipped to join Manchester City before the summer transfer window closes.
However, while Benfica would have nothing against cashing in on their prized asset, they insist the cub won’t be bullied into lowering their asking price.
“Javi will only leave if a club matches his buy-out clause. This figure is non-negotiable,” Benfica chairman Luis Filipe Vieira said to reporters.
The highly rated midfielder has only recently signed a new deal until June 2018 with the Eagles and his release clause now stands at €30 million.
Javi Garcia joined Benfica in a €7 million deal from Real Madrid in July 2009 and he has since developed into one of the best holding midfielders in Europe.
The Spaniard has scored a total of 6 goals in 74 Primeira Liga appearances for the Portuguese giants.
