Benfica have set the price for the services of Darwin Nunez this summer at €100 million (around £85m), according to Paul Joyce of The Times.
With his contract running for three more years, Benfica are not in a hurry to sell the talented attacker, but it seems they’ve come to terms with his desire to move on. Nonetheless, they’re obviously looking to take full advantage of the favourable (from their point of view) contract situation, as well as the fact that a number of clubs across Europe have been monitoring this player.
Nunez reportedly has his heart set on playing in the Premier League, and the two English clubs to have expressed an interest are Liverpool and Manchester United. It appears that the Uruguay international favours a move to Anfield at this point, being intrigued by the prospect of working with Jurgen Klopp and obviously keen to play in the Champions League as well. On the other hand, the Merseysiders won’t allow themselves to get dragged into a bidding war and they’re believed to have identified several alternative targets, just in case.
