Benfica have confirmed the signing of keeper Artur Moraes on a free contract.
The Brazilian keeper ended his contract with Roma after spending the last season on loan at Braga and has now signed a four-year deal with Benfica.
Speaking to Benfica TV, Moraes explained why he chose Benfica.
“For the greatness, the importance that Benfica has an ambitious project that was presented and the happiness of staying in Portugal.
”In the days preceding the decision, I had a contact with a lot of supporters in the streets.
“They love the club and have a great passion for the institution, so I realized how important Benfica is in Portugal and no doubt, I will look to represent the club in the best possible way.”
“We have to work hard, because a club the size of Benfica always have to dream and to think about the titles.”
Artur impressed this season while on loan at Braga and he conceded just five goals in nine Europa League games this term.
His performances in Europe attracted a lot of attention, but he eventually opted to stay in Portugal and signed for Benfica.
