Portuguese powerhouse Benfica have reinforced their ranks with a 26-year-old midfielder Joao Amaral, the club have officially confirmed on their website.
Vitoria de Setubal star put pen to paper on a three-year deal with the Portuguese Eagles.
Amaral is coming off the back of two highly successful seasons with Vitoria, during which he imposed himself as a proper leader of his team.
During the 2016/17 season he made 37 competitive outings and scored 5 goals for his club whereas his fine form extended to 2017/18 campaign as well. Amaral took part in 41 matches, helping his team to a ninth-place finish in the Primeira Liga with nine goals and two assists on his tally.
Joao Amaral did not turn professional footballer until the age of 24 but it was exactly Vitoria de Setubal who plucked him from the Portuguese amateur football in 2016.
He made his Primeira Liga debut in a 1-1 draw against his current club, Benfica.
