Portuguese daily newspaper Record understands that Valencia are set to sign Benfica midfielder Andre Gomes.
The player’s agent Jorge Mendes has offered his client to a number of Europe’s top clubs, with Monaco and Liverpool reportedly keen.
However, it appears that Valencia were the first side that agreed to match Benfica’s €15 million release clause, meaning the deal taking Andre Gomes to Mestalla should be completed before Friday’s deadline.
Despite struggling for first team football at Estadio da Luz, the 20-year-old is widely regarded as one of Europe’s hottest prospects and it is hardly surprising a number of high-profile clubs are casting admiring glances his way.
The talented footballer has only made two substitute appearances in the league this term, although he scored 5 goals in 8 matches for the reserve side in Portugal’s second division.
