(GSM) – Benfica will now be forced to wait until the final weekend of the season to celebrate a potential Portuguese title after they were beaten 3-1 at the hands of Porto on Sunday. In addition, Braga moved closer with a 1-0 win over Paços de Ferreira.
Bruno Alves fired third-placed Porto in front in the 42nd minute at the Dragão, but Benfica pegged back in the 56th minute when Luisão found the back of the net four minutes after Porto’s Jorge Fucile was sent off.
But Porto wouldn’t be denied their seventh straight league win even with 10 men.
Ernesto Farías restored Porto’s lead at 2-1 in the 59th minute, and Fernando Belluschi sealed the victory for the shorthanded home side eight minutes from time.
Meanwhile, Braga moved within three points of the leaders as Albert Meyong’s 55th-minute goal was the only strike needed.
