Benfica to cash in on Nico Gaitan
Benfica could sell their star player Nicolas Gaitan, according to club president Luis Filipe Vieira.
The Argentine forward is one of the most sought-after players in world football and has been heavily linked with a move to Manchester United.
Benfica have so far refused to negotiate the sale of their star player, but club president has now hinted that all players will be on the market next summer.
“The sale of players is the priority for Benfica but only if it is helping the club,” Vieira said in an interview with Radio e Televisao de Portugal.
“Our aim is to break even and make around 50 million euros in the summer through sales.”
The Eagles are, therefore, expected to sell Gaitan in the summer, especially as they have a ready-made replacement in Enzo Perez, who is currently on loan at Estudiantes.
Juventus target hints at summer exit
Cagliari midfielder Radja Nainggolan claims that he is likely to leave for greener pastures in the summer transfer window.
The midfielder was on the verge of a switch to Juventus in January transfer window, but the transfer never materialized.
Nainggolan now admits that he is likely to leave Cagliari at the end of the season, but not necessarily for another Italian club.
“The future? If a big Italian club and a big foreign club come in for me then I will decide to leave Italy,” the Belgian told Sky Sport Italia.
“I settled well into Italian life, but I like to change and to travel, to get to know different cultures and experience new adventures.”
The 23-year-old started 21 Serie A games for the Rossoblu this season, scoring one goal in the process.
Steve Mandanda pledges future to Marseille
Marseille keeper Steve Mandanda insists that he will not be leaving Velodrome at the end of the season.
Arsenal and Benfica have been showing interest in the French international, and the two clubs could step up their interest in the summer transfer window.
However, Mandanda claims he is happy at Marseille and doesn’t want to leave the club at the end of the season.
“I do not think about a summer departure because I feel good at OM, but in football you never know,” Mandanda told club’s official website.
The 26-year-old has a contract with the French giants until June 2014, but he is expected to leave Marseille for a bigger club in the near future.
Steve Mandanda has been an ever present in Didier Deschamps’ side, starting all 22 Ligue 1 games this season.
