Benfica have announced on their official website that they have completed the signing of Brazilian full-back Guilherme Siqueira from Granada.
The 27-year-old arrives as a replacement for Lorenzo Melgarejo, who moved to Kuban Krasnodar, having signed a one-year loan with the Estadio da Luz outfit.
Real Madrid were linked with a late bid for the highly rated defender as Fabio Coentrao was expected to join Manchester United, but they ultimately missed out on their long-term target.
Guilherme Siqueira has spent his early career in Italy, featuring for Lazio, Udinese and Ancona, but it was in Spanish La Liga that he made a name for himself.
The Brazilian helped Granada return to the elite division, before going on to score 12 goals in 70 La Liga matches for the club.
Siqueira has been linked with Real Madrid and Manchester United of late, but he surprisingly ended up signing for Portuguese giants Benfica.
