Benfica’s Sulejmani linked with Bundesliga switch

Russian news agency Novosti has suggested that Bundesliga outfit Freiburg are showing interest in Benfica winger Miralem Sulejmani.

The 25-year-old has struggled for playing time ever since he joined from Ajax in the summer of 2013 and a January exit appears on the cards.

According to Novosti, Bundesliga side Freiburg are pondering a January bid for the forward’s services, meaning Sulejmani could join his former Benfica teammate Stefan Mitrovic at Mage Solar Stadion.

Portuguese media outlet O Jogo claims the Eagles have yet to receive an official proposal for the player’s services, but chances are they will consider any serious offer.

Miralem Sulejmani made a name for himself in Dutch Eredivisie, where he starred for Heerenveen and Ajax, but he then fell out of favour with the Amsterdammers after refusing to extend his contract.

The Serbian international’s career has since taken a turn for the worse and he is now hoping to leave Benfica in search of first team football.
