Newcastle United manager Rafa Benitez has spoken about the club’s finances as they progress through the summer transfer window, with just a few weeks remaining until the 2018/19 Premier League campaign begins. Benitez wasn’t shy in admitting that the Magpies are on something of a tight budget this summer, despite the fact that they were able to secure a top-half finish last season. Benitez has already spoken about how committed he is to the club, claiming that he wants to remain at St James’ Park for many years to come.
Newcastle, who finished on just 44 points last season, will kick proceedings off on August 11th with a tricky fixture against Tottenham Hotspur. The remainder of their opening six games are not exactly going to be a picnic either with newly promoted Cardiff City, Chelsea, Manchester City, Arsenal and Crystal Palace all to come over the course of the next few months.
