Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez is delighted with the performance of new signing Glen Johnson.
Johnson scored one goal in his home debut in the Reds’ 4-0 victory over Stoke.
Benitez said: “We wanted a player with quality who could score and create goals.
“He attacks very well and had a fine game. Against teams who defend deep against us, he can change games.
“I was also pleased with Lucas Leiva, he has taken a lot of unfair criticism from the pundits which is not fair. He is a fine professional and a very good player, our best in pre-season.”
Johnson joined Liverpool in a £17million deal from Portsmouth this summer.
