Benitez ‘happy’ with Rondon so far

Newcastle United manager Rafa Benitez is said to be very happy with Salomon Rondon’s progress so far this season, despite the fact that he hasn’t had much luck in front of goal. Benitez believes that the fans haven’t seen the best of him yet, and that once he has better match fitness, he’ll be able to translate that into solid goalscoring form.

Rondon joined the Magpies off the back of an injury he picked up during his time with West Bromwich Albion, where he spent three years of his career. Despite having a positive reputation with many fans, he has hardly been a prolific goalscorer – even when he was with the Baggies.

Newcastle have had an unbalanced start to the season both on and off the pitch, but they’ll be hoping that Rondon can grow into his role with the club. After the international break they’ll be back in action against Arsenal.
