Rafa Benitez turns down speculations about his future. Liverpool boss claims his relationship with chief executive Rick Parry is not as bad as has been painted recently. He is not unhappy that he would be answerable to Parry over new signings.

“I don’t want 100 per cent control,” he told. “I just want to work with the budget I have. I have no problem with Rick or any other chief executive. This is about how I can manage the club in the best way for the future. If you have £20million, you can spend £5million on four players or £20million on one player. Who knows the right value? The manager. If I have one chief executive or 20 chief executives, it’s not the point. The manager must decide how the money is spent.”
