(GSM) – Internazionale coach Rafael Benítez admitted his admiration for Werder Bremen midfielder Marko Marin’s talents ahead of the two sides’ meeting.
The 21-year-old was reportedly considered by the European champions during the summer’s transfer window as a future alternative to Wesley Sneijder.
Benítez confirmed his interest in the player during a pre-match press conference while insisting that he is happy with Sneijder at his disposal.
Asked about Marin, the Inter manager responded: “He is a good player, a quality component.
“But we have Sneijder in his position. And at the moment I prefer him.”
Werder Bremen manager Thomas Schaaf believes that Marin would be a success should he move to Serie A or any of Europe’s other top leagues.
“He has the qualities to play in the Bundesliga and for the national team,” said Schaaf of Marin, who scored in Bremen’s 2-2 draw with Tottenham last time out in Europe.
“I don’t see why he couldn’t also play in Italy. We’ll see in the future.”
