(GSM) – Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez is confident of his club’s ability to stand firm against Chelsea and claim a vital win which will keep their slim chances of landing a Champions League place alive.

Following their elimination out of the Europa League at the semi-final stage against Atletico Madrid, the Reds host Chelsea at Anfield on Sunday.

Benitez says his Chelsea counterpart Carlo Ancelotti is doing a good job at Stamford Bridge, but warned him of the spirit of Liverpool, reminding the Italian tactician of the 2005 UEFA Champions League final which the Reds dramatically came back from far behind to win against Ancelotti’s AC Milan.

“He is doing a really good job at Chelsea,” the Spaniard said.

“In Istanbul AC Milan did everything that they had to do, but the problem for them and Ancelotti was they were playing against Liverpool and we never give up.

“Everyone is down (after the Europa League disappointment) so we have to rest but hopefully we will see a good reaction.

“It will be difficult because some people will be a little bit tired but we have to show a good face.

“Chelsea are totally different to Atletico but we want to win so we have to play with an offensive mentality.”
