Internazionale manager Rafael Benítez has confirmed his intention to bring in a new defender once the January transfer window opens after Walter Samuel’s season-ending injury.
Benítez has been linked with Daniel Agger, who was signed by Liverpool during the Spaniard’s reign at Anfield.
Benítez admits he has already spoken the Italian club’s president Massimo Moratti as well as technical director Marco Branca about the possibility of luring a new defender to Giuseppe Meazza.
“We will try to do our best until January, then we will see if something could be done, considering Walter Samuel’s injury,” Benitez said.
“We have lost an important player in an important position.
“We have ideas and we will see what we will do. I’ve spoken with the president, I’ve spoken with Branca too.
“We know we must work to arrive in January in a good standing position, and to see what we need, then we can work on the market and find the right balance.”
