(GSM) – Rafael Benitez was pleased to see Liverpool grab an easy victory against Portsmouth (4-1) on Monday night.
The Reds bounced back from their defeat at Wigan last week and put themselves firmly back in contention for fourth spot.
A brace by Fernando Torres and goals from Ryan Babel and Alberto Aquilani secured the win over rock bottom Pompey.
“It was a good game. We were trying to play well for the fans and score goals,” said Benitez.
“It was an important goal in an important week.”
Benitez was happy with Aquilani’s display as he made a rare appearance in central midfield.
“It was really good for Aquilani and really good for the team,” he said.
“He has shown he has quality and he will have more confidence and that is good.
“We have seen a lot of players playing well today and that is good for me because it gives me more (selection) problems.”
