Benitez set for Everton?

According to a recent report from Daily Mirror, Rafael Benitez has held further talks with Everton’s owners over taking over as their new manager.

The belief is that secret talks were held over the weekend with his representatives ironing out the finer details of a deal that, right now, looks set to be confirmed before the week is even over.

There was a backlash from fans last week who weren’t happy about the prospect of a former Liverpool man taking over at Goodison Park – but it seems as if they’re going to push through with it regardless.

Benitez has been a wanted man in a general sense when it comes to getting another job in the Premier League but the Toffees, specifically, always did feel like a hard sell given his history in the city.

Now, he’ll have to do everything in his power to try and get them on side.
