According to a recent report from Sky Sports, Newcastle United manager Rafael Benitez is set to hold talks with the club in London as they attempt to come to terms on a new contract for the Spaniard. There’s been a great deal of speculation as to whether or not he’d wind up staying with the Magpies, but in the end, it seems as if he is indeed going to remain a the club – although there’s no guarantee on that just yet. His current contract is set to expire on June 30th, and there is indeed a willingness on both sides to get something sorted. Newcastle finished in 13th this season, with the belief being that he wants to aim much higher if he is to stay. That makes sense, given that he’s spent most of his career managing some of the biggest teams in Europe.
Lee Charnley is believed to be leading the negotiations.
