Benitez uncertain of his Newcastle future

Rafael Benitez is doing a really good job of keeping Newcastle United in Premier League, but the Magpies’ manager is unsure whether he will remain in post once the season is over. The Spaniard has the contract with the club until June 2019 and nothing important has been going on about his contract situation. Benitez insists there have been no developments over renewing terms to ensure he remains at Newcastle.

“We are at the same point – no news. I finish my contract on June 30. I am a professional and I have a lot of things I want to do well. I cannot say to anyone about his future because I don’t know about my future. It is not me telling players that I will not extend your contract. It is not my responsibility at the moment.

“What I have to do is prepare the team the best way possible for the next games, starting with the next one against Southampton”, Benitez concluded.
