(GSM) – Zenit St. Petersburg manager Luciano Spalletti believes that Internazionale boss Rafael Benítez will not be sacked despite the Italian champions’ dire form.

Spalletti, 51, also moved quickly to distance himself from reports linking him with the managerial reins at Inter should Benítez be ousted.

The former Roma manager told Sky Italia: “I have never been contacted by Inter. I have a contract here.

“I will continue to be Zenit’s Coach until they sack me or a new situation develops.

“There were never any doubts [that Massimo Moratti would show his full confidence in Benitez].

“Moratti is a serious person. At this present moment in the season the team has paid dearly for a series of injuries.

“Moratti is not the kind of person who turns his back on you after two months.”
