According to the Leicester Mercury, Leicester City new boy Filip Benkovic could be heading for a loan deal away from the club – just a matter of weeks after initially signing for the Foxes. The former Dinamo Zagreb man is being viewed as the future leader at centre back for Leicester, but at the age of 21, there’s still plenty of time and room for him to grow.
The interested party is none other than Scottish champions Celtic, as they attempt to bolster their squad for the new season. We’ve seen plenty of players head out on loan there in the past in order to gain some more first team experience, and it seems as if that’d be the plan for Benkovic. The move would be made in case Boyata, who actually scored the winning goal for Celtic against Hamilton at the weekend, decides to leave before the transfer deadline on Saturday.
