Darren Bent has revealed that he has held talks with Aston Villa over a new contract with the club, according to the Telegraph.
The striker, who was frozen out at Villa Park under previous manager Paul Lambert, is currently on loan with Championship promotion hopefuls Derby County.
However, the former Tottenham Hotspur, Sunderland, Charlton Athletic and Ipswich Town man is confident of rebuilding his Villa career under Tim Sherwood, once has finished in attempts to help the Rams reach the Premier League.
Bent moved to the Midlands side in January 2011, and has since scored twenty-five goals in seventy-two appearances for the club in all competitions though he has spent the majority of the past two seasons out on loan.
He has been capped thirteen times for England, scoring four goals, though he hasn’t appeared for his country since playing in a 1-0 friendly victory over Sweden in November 2011.
