England striker Darren Bent says he will save Tottenham’s season by scoring 30 goals.
Spurs have struggled so far this season and it seems like the departure of Dimitar Berbatov, Robbie Keane and Jermain Defoe has backfired.
Bent said: “After our performances in pre-season you would have thought we were going to be a top-four team and maybe better than that.
“But last season we had me, Keane, Defoe and Berba and we still lost our first game and went on an horrific run in the league after that.
“We didn’t do ourselves justice last season and haven’t started well again this season too. But we CAN turn things around.
“I don’t really look at who has left the club or feel any pressure. I just go out and play.
“Obviously Jermain, Robbie and Berba have all left. They played a lot of games for the club and scored a lot of goals.
“But if I get as many games for Tottenham as they did I’ll be just fine.
“Combined I think they scored something like 70 goals per season.
“I’ll have a job to score that many on my own, so I’ll aim for 30! But I’m confident if I play regularly I’ll score lots of goals.â€Â
