Balckburn’s David Bentley is probably one of the best midfielders in England outside the ‘top four’. Naturally plenty of clubs will be attracted by the possibility of signing him and now Jose Mourinho has put the youngster on his transfer wish-list.
Reports earlier today suggested that Inter would try to convince Steven Gerrard to move to Italy and enjoy good food and moderately good wine. However should that bid not materialize, David Bentley is sure to appreciate the annals of Italian cuisine with his brand new £60,000 per week salary, reports News of the World.
The English midfielder would cost Inter around £15 million, but they are unlikely to be the only ones who will make a bid for David Beckham’s ‘successor’ – as the English like to call him. Apparently the former Arsenal player attracted the interest of Liverpool earlier this summer.
Bentley can play on the right of midfield and he has a mean cross as well as a gorgeous free kick – in case you wonder why the call hims Beckham’s successor – but he is not the modern type of winger. He does not run at opposition like Ronaldo or Ribery because he does not have speed or skill, but he does have a plethora of other skills which the modern fan cannot understand. Hence, the huge price tag.
