Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema has admitted he draws inspiration from former Bernabeu great Ronaldo.
The retired Brazilian played for the Blancos between 2002 and 2007, and the Frenchman said his brilliance had a profound effect on his development as a player.
“For me he (Ronaldo) is the greatest. He was fast, technical, creative and an opportunist,” Benzema told So Foot.
“I used to watch everything Ronaldo did when I was young. He inspires me.”
“If he was in my team I would sit on the bench just to watch him and if I played with him I would pass it to him all the time.”
Asked whether he could compare himself to the Brazilian legend, Benzema said it would be impossible.
“You cannot compare me and him. For me Ronaldo is unique,” he said.
Benzema has scored six goals in nine La Liga appearances this term, helping Madrid to top spot in the table.
