Karim Benzema’s agent has suggested that the French International would rather prefer to spend another season at Stade de Gerland than join Manchester United this summer.

The 21 year-old is thought to be Sir Alex Ferguson’s number one target his summer, following the departure of Carlos Tevez and Cristiano Ronaldo’s proposed transfer to Real Madrid.

Ferguson, a long time admirer of the prolific striker, is yet to launch a bid but reports suggest that £28million bid is in the process to sign the rising star of French football.

However, agent Karim Djaziri believes Benzema would be best served staying at Lyon for a further 12 months and then moving on after next summer’s World Cup finals.

“Karim is on holiday at the moment and he is not thinking of moving,” he said.

“He wants to stay in France for another year so that he can prepare for the World Cup and I think that Sir Alex knows this.

“Perhaps he wants to make an offer to Lyon. If that happens, then Karim will think about it, but as things stand, Karim wants to stay with Lyon for another year.”
