French striker Karim Benzema is set to be rewarded with a new contract at Santiago Bernabeu, reports Marca.
The Frenchman has struggled to prove his worth since arriving from Lyon, but he finally established himself as a first team regular following the departure of Gonzalo Higuain.
And even though there were some speculations suggesting he could leave at the end of the campaign, it appears there is no truth to the rumours.
Marca has suggested that club officials are perfectly happy with the player’s contribution this season and are prepared to offer him a contract extension.
With Benzema’s current deal not due to expire before June 2016, there is obviously no rush, but the talks are reportedly underway.
The 26-year-old has made a total of 37 competitive appearances for los Blancos this season and managed to score 21 goals. He has also bagged 2 goals in 9 World Cup qualifiers for France.
