Benzema unhappy with lack of playing time; Milan linked to Ligue 1 goal-machine

Benzema unhappy with lack of playing time

Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema has admitted to feeling frustrated over the lack of playing time at Santiago Bernabeu.

Los Blancos boss Jose Mourinho has only been using one of Benzema and Higuain most of the time over the last few years and the Frenchman now admits he would love to play on more regular basis.

“For sure, I have wanted to play more, from the start of the season I have spent more time on the bench than on the pitch,” Benzema confessed to L’Equipe.

The 24-year-old, however, states that Jose Mourinho supports him every step of the way.

“He’s always behind me, never lets me give up. Even when things go well, when I am playing regularly and doing well, he says it’s ok.”

Since arriving to the club from Lyon, Benzema has scored 45 goals in 103 La Liga appearances.

However, the striker made just three La Liga starts this term, scoring one goal in the process.

Milan linked to Ligue 1 goal-machine

Milan are weighing up move for Saint Etienne forward Pierre Emerick Aubameyang, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.

With Alexandre Pato and Robinho nearing the San Siro exit door, boss Max Allegri is keen on adding another attacker to the squad in the January transfer window.

La Gazzetta dello Sport claims the Rossoneri could make a move on Saint Etienne star Pierre Emerick Aubameyang.

The Gabonese forward has been in scintillating form this season, scoring 7 goals in 10 Ligue 1 games, with top European clubs now lining up for the 23-year-old.

Interesting thing is that the Gabon international began his professional career at San Siro, but never quite managed to get a real chance at the club.

Saint Etienne bought his contract for mere €1.8 million after the player impressed while on loan at Stade Geoffroy-Guichard and they could easily resell the player to Milan just one year later for a huge profit.

In total, Aubameyang has scored 25 goals in 61 Ligue 1 games for les Verts, which is a great return for a player who is usually deployed on the wing.

Hamburg admit they need to sell

Bundesliga side Hamburger SV have confirmed reports they plan to sell several first team players in the January transfer window.

The Imtech Arena outfit have spent around €25 million on players like Rafael van der Vaart, Artoms Rudnevs, Petr Jiracek and Milan Badelj.

While the heavy summer spending helped improve the quality of the squad, it also created a hole in club’s finances.

Bild claims the club need to raise around €6.4 million in order to balance the books and they plan to do so by selling several fringe players.

Jaroslav Drobny, Slobodan Rajkovic, Per Skjelbred, Robert Tesche and Marcus Berg are now available for sale.

“All (the players) are informed. I have spoken with their agents. Perhaps it is better for some that they leave, in order to get match practice,” sporting director Frank Arnesen was quoted as saying in Bild.

Everybody at the club is hoping they won’t need to sell some of their key players, but one thing’s for sure, young forward Heung-Min Son is not for sale under any circumstances.
