Benzia rejects Rennes move

Lyon coach Hubert Fournier has moved to confirm that forward Yassine Benzia has rejected the opportunity to join Rennes.

After recruiting the likes of Claudio Beauvue and Mathieu Valbuena, and keeping hold of Alexandre Lacazette and Nabil Fekir, les Gones decided to cash in on a couple of their talented attackers.

While Clinton N’Jie is set to complete a switch to Tottenham, Yassine Benzia was expected to sign for Rennes after Lyon accepted an offer from Brittany, believed to be in the region of €3 million.

However, the player himself surprisingly rejected the offer from les Bretons and has now been relegated to the reserves.

Benzia has just another year left on his deal at Stade Gerland and everything suggests that his spell with Lyon is coming to an end.

The 20-year-old made just ten league appearances for the club last term, scoring two goals in the process, while making two outings in the Europa League.
