Berahino hints at West Brom exit; Pellegrini rubbishes Yaya Toure exit rumours

West Bromwich Albion forward Saido Berahino has hinted he may have to leave the Hawthorns to achieve his lofty ambitions.

West Bromwich Albion forward Saido Berahino has hinted he may have to leave the Hawthorns to achieve his lofty ambitions.

The England Under-21 international, who is contracted to Albion until the summer of 2017, has been named to Roy Hodgson’s squad for the upcoming matches against Scotland and Slovenia after a magnificent start to the 2014/15 campaign.

Berahino, 21, has scored seven goals in 10 English Premier League appearances for the Baggies: no English player has scored more goals in England’s top-flight this season.

Berahino’s purple patch of form has sparked speculation linking the likes of Liverpool, Manchester United, and Tottenham Hotspur with the 21-year-old, and rightly so.

When asked if he may have to leave West Brom in order to fulfill his dreams of playing in the Champions League, Berahino said: “If that’s what it comes to it has to be that.

“I appreciate what West Brom have done for me and I am working hard to bring the club up. I just stay focused and right now I’m focused on West Brom and the games coming up.

“I just take each game as it comes, my aim would be to play in the Champions League, to be involved in the England seniors and go and play in World Cups and Euros.

“I take each game as it comes, work hard and I have a big vision and hopefully I can reach my goals.

“There will be more eyes on me but I know I can handle the pressure and I have just got to focus on myself and let the football do the talking.

“I’ve had a good start to the season and worked extremely hard and now I have the chance to progress even more. It’s up to me to take it with both hands.”

Pellegrini rubbishes Yaya Toure exit rumours

Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini has rubbished reports suggesting Yaya Toure could leave the club.

Recent reports have linked French champions Paris Saint-Germain with the out-of-form Ivorian midfielder, but Pellegrini has insisted the 31-year-old is still a very important player for City.

“There must be a lot of reports telling the story that Yaya will be sold,” Pellegrini said. “Maybe it is all the other teams that want Manchester City to be a weaker team.

“Yaya is a very important player. He played very well in the first half against CSKA – he scored a goal. In the second half he made a mistake and he was sent off but – never in my mind – I am sure nobody at the club is talking about selling Yaya Toure.”

Toure, who tallied 20 goals and nine assists in 35 Premier League appearances last term, has bagged just one goal and no assists in 10 Premier League games in 2014/15.
