Sir Alex Ferguson has insisted striker Dimitar Berbatov will not be allowed to leave Manchester United cheaply.
The Bulgarian has had limited opportunities this season, falling behind Danny Welbeck and Javier Hernandez in the pecking order, creating speculation of an off-season move.
His contract was due to expire at season’s end, although United reserve the option to extend it by a further year, and Ferguson appears determined to get some sort of return on the 30.75 million pounds paid to Tottenham back in 2008.
Ferguson told The People: “We won’t be letting him go for nothing.”
The Red Devils boss also confirmed that veterans Ryan Giggs and Paul Scholes will still be key to the first team next season.
“Paul Scholes and Ryan Giggs will be here next year and, unless someone makes an offer we want for Berbatov, he will (be) too,” Ferguson said.
