Manchester United striker Dimitar Berbatov could return to Bayer Leverkusen, according to the player’s agent.
The Bulgarian has fallen down the pecking order behind Javier Hernandez and Danny Welbeck at Old Trafford, and is now looking to leave in search of first team football.
Berbatov’s contract expires at the end of the season, meaning that he will be available at a cut-back price in January, and he could be one of the stars of the next transfer window.
The player’s former club, Bayer Leverkusen are also interested and they appear to be leading the race for the Bulgarian.
“It is more than a rumour. Leverkusen have the idea to get Berbatov,” the player’s representative Ivan Dobrinow told Bild.
“There is contact, but nothing concrete yet. Everything depends on Manchester United.”
