As Liverpool took the lead over Manchester City on Sunday at Anfield, courtesy of a rocket from Fabinho, City players surrounded referee Michael Oliver, protesting that a penalty should have been given previously at the other end when the ball hit the arm of Trent Alexander-Arnold. A slow-motion footage, however, reveals that it was Bernardo Silva who handled the ball first.
The City winger was confronted with this evidence after the game and he admitted to the offence. Further more, former goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer stepped in to explain the difference in the rules when it comes to the ball touching the hand/arm of an attacker, compared to the same thing when it’s a defender.
