Spanish media outlet El Mundo Deportivo claims that Monaco hotshot Bernardo Silva was close to joining Barcelona last summer.
The Portuguese winger is now being mentioned as a top target for the Catalans and few other high-profile clubs, but the La Liga side had a chance to secure his signature at a reasonable price at the end of last season.
Namely, Barcelona were ready to make a move on Bernardo Silva if Arda Turan had completed a proposed move to China.
But, with the Turkish footballer ultimately staying at Camp Nou, the Catalans opted against pursuing their interest in the Portugal starlet.
That could prove a bad decision considering that Bernardo Silva’s price has increased a great deal this season, as he is now regarded as one of Europe’s most sought-after footballers.
The 22-year-old will attempt to help Monaco overturn a two-goal deficit in the Champions League tie against Man City, with the Principality club priced at 4/1 to qualify to the quarter-finals.
