According to Sport, Bernardo Silva has decided to leave Manchester City this summer, and Barcelona are ready to reignite their interest in his services from last summer and take advantage of his desire to play in La Liga as the next chapter of his career.
Apparently, a meeting between Barcelona president Joan Laporta, sporting director Deco and head coach Xavi Hernandez is scheduled to take place this week. The main talking point between them will be whether Xavi’s decision to leave the club at the end of the season might be reversed, and the club officials are more confident than ever about persuading the former midfielder to stay put.
Xavi’s decision will depend, among other things, on reinforcements for the 2024/25 season, and this is where Silva comes in.
The Portugal international believes the time is right to try his luck in Spain, having won everything on offer with Manchester City. The 29-year-old attacking midfielder has two years left on his contract at the Etihad, but it apparently contains a release clause set at £50 million.
