Bernat on Man City radar

English news outlet the Sun has learned that Manchester City are interested in Bayern Munich defender Juan Bernat as Pep Guardiola seeks reunion with his former player.

The 23-year-old was brought to Bundesliga from Valencia by Pep Guardiola in 214 and the Sun claim the versatile defender is seen as a player who is familiar with Pep’s methods and who fits in his system perfectly.

Juan Bernat is a left-sided operative equally apt of filling in both defence and midfield roles. It is exactly his versatility that makes him a perfect target for Guardiola, who is looking to make defensive reinforcements when the transfer window reopens in January.

The Spanish international has been used sporadically by Bayern Munich new boss Carlo Ancelotti, who fielded Bernat only three times in the Bundesliga this season.

The 23-year-old has however played one game in the UEFA Champions League this season against FK Rostov, managing to get his name on the score sheet in the process.
