Bernd Schuster named new Besiktas coach

Turkish Super Lig club Besiktas have appointed former Real Madrid manager Bernd Schuster as their new coach. In a release to the Turkish stock exchange, Besiktas revealed that Schuster had put pen to paper a two year deal that will earn him 2.6 million euros every year.

Schuster was last seen at Real Madrid, whom he left in December 2008. Since then, he has been linked with vacant managerial posts at several places, including but not limited to Sunderland and the Ivory Coast national team.

Augsburg born Schuster coached Fortuna Koln and 1.FC Koln in his native Germany before moving to Spain with Xerez in 2001. Barring one year at Ukranian club Shakhtar, he has spent much of this decade in Spain, coaching the likes of Levante, Getafe and most recently, Real Madrid.

Besiktas finished fourth in the Turkish league last season behind Bursaspor, Fenerbahce and Galatasaray.
