Ryan Bertrand has hinted that he could be set to make his move to Southampton permanent, according to the Metro.
The full back opened his Saints account at the weekend with the opener in a 2-1 victory over struggling Queens Park Rangers, having played every minute of their league campaign so far this season.
Bertrand has said that he was advised to remain at Stamford Bridge before it became clear that he would not be getting a satisfactory amount of game time.
Having begun life on the south coast so promisingly, the 25 year old now looks likely to finally end his time with the Premier League leaders, having been farmed out to no less than seven teams on loan since turning professional.
Saturday’s victory for Ronald Koeman’s side kept them in second place in the Premier League, just three points behind Chelsea, and they can now be backed at 4/1 to finish in the top six.
