Besiktas are in talks with FC Porto over the signing of Portuguese winger Silvestre Varela, Turkish newspaper Fanatik has learned.
The Turkish giants are eager to finally mount a serious title challenge in the Super Lig and they are looking at a number of high-profile players at the moment.
According to Fanatik, Besiktas are hoping to complete the signing of Porto attacker Silvestre Varela in the coming days.
Besiktas players Hugo Almeida and Manuel Fernandes seem to have convinced the Porto star to accept an offer from Turkey, but the two sides have yet to reach an agreement over the transfer fee.
While the Turks are ready to offer around €5 million for the 28-year-old, the Dragons want more money for the Portugal international.
Silvestre Varela, who joined Porto from Estrela Amadora four years back, has made a total of 90 Primeira Liga appearances for the Dragons, scoring 25 goals in the process.
