(GSM) – Turkish club Besiktas have made an audacious late bid to sign Tottenham Hotspur striker Robbie Keane on a season-long loan, according to reports.
Besiktas, who had already failed in their bid to sign Manchester City forward Robinho earlier this month, are hoping to lure Keane with the guarantee of regular first team football.
And Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp confirmed that the club may let him leave.
“Maybe (there will be) one or two loans going out,” said Redknapp. “We have got a practice match this morning. I am just going to watch that and I think it will be a quiet day.”
Besiktas coach Bernd Schuster, who previously managed Real Madrid, has already recruited Guti from the Bernabeu and Ricardo Quaresma from Internazionale as he looks to boost the club’s profile.
Keane has found his chances limited at White Hart Lane with manager Harry Redknapp preferring to use Jermain Defoe, Peter Crouch and Roman Pavlyuchenko.
The Republic of Ireland captain was loaned to Celtic for the second half of last season and he has been repeatedly linked with another temporary move away from White Hart Lane.
