Besiktas have triggered the option of signing Adem Ljajić from Torino on a permanent basis, according to multiple sources.
The Serbia international spent the 2018/19 season at Besiktas on loan from the Serie A side. Following numerous speculations about whether he would return to Italy, his impressive displays – he scored nine goals and laid on a further 14 assists in 32 games across all competitions – have convinced the Turkish club not to pass on the opportunity to make the deal permanent. They will be paying Torino a sum of €6.5 million for his services.
The 27-year-old attacking midfielder started out at Partizan Belgrade, where he played for two years before moving to Serie A. He spent four seasons with Fiorentina and two with AS Roma, before heading out to Inter Milan on loan for the 2015/16 season. He joined Torino in the summer of 2016 and scored 18 goals in 65 games in total for them, followed by the loan to Besiktas.
He has eight goals in 37 caps for his country to his name.
