Besiktas are interested in signing Mohamed Elneny from Arsenal, according to Turkish newspaper Fotospor.
The midfielder started his career in the Egyptian Premier League with Al Mokawloon Al Arab, before moving to Basel in 2012. He arrived to north London in January 2016.
The Egypt international’s time with the Gunners has been heavily hampered with injuries. Quite apart from that, manager Unai Emery increased the competition for his place in the middle of the park by signing Lucas Torreira and Mateo Guendouzi last summer, and with Granit Xhaka also in the mix, Elneny’s time at the Emirates may come to an end this summer.
Besiktas, on the other hand, are apparently set to lose Atiba Hutchinson after the end of the season, and they see Elneny as a suitable replacement for the 36-year-old Canada international. They have made the initial enquiries about the possibility of a deal and expressed their interest to Arsenal.
