Betis sign Monzon

Real Betis have signed Argentine defender Luciano Monzon from Boca Juniors for 9 million euros, according to Spanish newspaper Marca.

The 21 year old have signed a five year contract with the Spanish side after completing his medical yesterday.

“I am very happy to have signed for Betis and I want to thank the club for showing their confidence in me to pursuit and complete this deal,” he said.

The Argentine left-back looked set to join Hamburg SV, after Boca Juniors signed a pre-agreement with the German side.

“We have reached a total understanding and agreement with Hamburg regarding the transfer of Monzon,” Boca president Pedro Pompilio told Sky Sports News.

“We are happy because we think that what we have agreed is the best for Hamburg, Boca and the player.

“The negotiations were very long but have finally arranged everything.”
