The driving runs of Wales midfielder Aaron Ramsey have become synonymous with so much that is good about the latest version of Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal side.

Wenger stuck by Ramsey in the early years of the player’s development with the Gunners when the more vocal amongst the Arsenal faithful were calling for the Frenchman to turn to more exotic options.

Now, when the chips are down for Wenger with fans even turning on the mercurial Frenchman, is the time for Ramsey to repay that faith.

Ramsey has scored three times in the Premier League this season, including once in last weekend’s 3-2 defeat by Stoke at the Britannia Stadium.

He was also on target in the Champions League against Galatasaray in midweek, scoring twice in the 4-1 victory, the second a spectacular shot from 30 yards.

Following the defeat to Stoke, Wenger received support from the unlikeliest of sources when former Tottenham striker Gary Lineker leapt to his defence after he was verbally abused by Arsenal fans following the defeat at Stoke.

Newcastle boss Alan Pardew knows what it is like to suffer the wrath of his own club’s fans after taking on the thankless task of running a club owned by Mike Ashley.

Wenger is unlikely to receive any sympathy from Pardew ahead of the game, though, but few know better how fickle fans can be than the Newcastle boss.

He can go into the visit to the Emirates on a high after a 2-1 home win last weekend ended Chelsea’s unbeaten run in the Premier League this season.

Pardew’s side came in for criticism from Blues boss Jose Mourinho for “time-wasting” against Chelsea, but don’t be surprised to see them running down the clock against Wenger’s side if they again gain the upper hand.

Enhanced price therefore maximum stake of £25 per user.
