Few pundits picked Southampton to keep pace with the leading lights in the Premier League this season, but heading into 2015, that is just what they have done.

Ronald Koeman has responded to predictions that his team would struggle by taking a squad depleted by the departures of Adam Lallana, Rickie Lambert, Dejan Lovren and Luke Shaw, and molding them into one now occupying one of the Champions League spots.

United, like Southampton, began the season with a new manager and Louis van Gaal has brought the same steadying hand to Old Trafford that his fellow Dutchman has brought to the Saints.

United were in a transitional state following the sacking of David Moyes and the interim regime of RyanGiggs, but since Van Gaal arrived, the picture has looked a lot brighter for the Red Devils.

United’s slow start to the season was in contrast to Southampton’s fine form, but the tables have been turned in recent weeks.

United have climbed above Southampton to third in the table and their demanding fans will not be happy unless they rain down shots on the visitors’ goal.

Van Gaal spent freely over the summer and in signing Angel Di Maria, he brought in a winger from Real Madrid who is not afraid to shoot.

In 12 Premier League games the Argentinian has had 37 shots for an average of 3.08 per match and he should continue in that vein against Southampton.

Enhanced price therefore maximum stake of £25 per user.
